About The Journey

Throughout my (Steve) teenage years I often dreamed of leaving everything behind and setting off to experience every corner of the world; places so exotic you'd think they only exist in the fantasies of the delusional. In January 2010, at 22, and without much to lose I booked a one way ticket to Mexico. What I thought would be a 3 week trip turned into 3 months and permanently altered the course of my life. Over the next 9 years I backpacked through 45 countries on 5 continents with a hard goal of seeing them all. 

In 2017 I met Kathleen while she was in nursing school and at the end of 2018 she flew out to meet me in Rome. We were able to visit 7 countries together before COVID-19 closed the world.

In February 2022 I bought "Fate", a 2020 Toyota 4Runner and we outfitted her as best we could to take on the world. The goal is still to visit every country, and perhaps, to surpass Gunther Holtorf's Guinness Record by driving to more than 180 of them.
